Cleveland High Definition TV (HDTV) / Digital Television sale, install,
help.
|
|
HDTV is amazing — and hopefully you are seeing the action first hand and
know how incredible the picture clarity of modern
high-definition television and Blu-Ray DVD is. And, even if you already have
high-definition (HD) video at your location, this
standard for high-quality home-theater video has brought with it ever more
equipment types and choices as technology is further
improved and refined.
For example, have you embraced 3D (3-dimensional) HDTV yet — 3DTV is yet
another simply amazing
step forward in home movie and entertainment possibilities. If you have yet to
see this technology first-hand and feel
like you are missing out on one of the biggest transformations in video
technology ever, do not worry: we are here to help you.
We can help you make an educated choice when it comes to purchasing and
installing your new high-definition TV (HDTV) / digital TV equipment.
Buying a new HDTV can be nearly overwhelming, given all the choices,
configurations, interfaces, and options that exist.
Some common decisions you will need to make involve answering questions that
include:
- Which HDTV option is best: Plasma, LED, OLED or LCD?
- LED looks great, should I go for edge-lit, full-array backlighting, etc?
- Is 3D-TV HDTV for me? Do I need to wear special glasses to see 3D?
- How big should the HDTV be (diagonal size)?
- What different resolutions do I need (e.g., 1080i, 1080p, 720p, 480i, 480p)?
- What is the optimal screen refresh rate (e.g., 120Hz, 240Hz, 480Hz)?
- Can I use my computer, multimedia server, antenna, cable, BluRay, and DVD
player with my choice of HDTVs?
- What interfaces do I need? HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, VGA/PC, Component,
etc?
- Next, what version/revision of those interfaces do I need? e.g., HDMI 1.3,
HDMI 1.4, etc.?
- Will I require a Digital Cable service to use my high-definition TV or
will satellite be best for me?
- Can someone help me setup my system to receive free HDTV (over-the-air
broadcasts) in the Cleveland area?
- What brand of HDTV equipment is the best? What is the best
price-performance option? There are so many brands to choose from:
Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba, Philips, Mitsubishi, Pioneer,
Vizio... which is right for me?
- Who can install all my HDTV equipment and accessories, including running
wires and mounting TVs and speakers?

Plasma vs. LCD TV for your Home Theater
|
|
LCD and Plasma HDTVs dominate the TV market — most recently LCDs have
risen to the top, with LED-backlit HDTV coming on strong.
Compared to their old tube counterpart, modern HDTVs have dramatically
improved pictures, larger screen sizes, and take up much less space.
There are many models, and countless features, to choose from.
The line between Plasma and LCD is getting less clear as of recent, with LCD
making substantial market-share gains and technology improvements,
especially as LED TV options have greatly expanded and brought higher contrast
ratios, power savings, and incredible colors — but
now you also have to consider things like edge-lit LED vs. full-array LED
backlighting and more..
But, in general, here are some of the conventional thoughts when it comes to
comparing these two different digital television options.
Key Plasma benefits over LCD traditionally included:
- Richer colors, deeper contrast, and perfectly black "blacks"
- Wider viewing angle
- Smoother images especially during fast action scenes, sports, and video games
- but,... things have changed as more LCD/LED options emerged...
Key LCD / LED benefits over Plasma now include:
- More energy efficient — less power consumption; especially with the
newest LED-based technology
- No image "burn-in" issues to worry about generally
- Available in a much wider range of sizes than plasma
- Generally less expensive for same-sized HDTVs
