Sony 4K XBR-84X900 TV for Sale : Price is no object

We previously (on this blog) talked about how the new 4K TVs and HDMI 1.4 would be on sale soon, and that was back in December of 2010.  Time flies, and not quite 2 years later, Sony is now offering a fantastic and very large (84″!) 4K resolution LED TV that is perhaps within the price range of a few home theater aficionados.

Sony has priced its upcoming XBR-84X900 TV (84″ 4K LED) at an initial list price of $24,999. See our prior blog (link in first paragraph) for an image showing how 4K compares to normal high-definition (1920P and/or 720P); this new image format offers an unbelievable and spectacular 3840 x 2160-pixel resolution, and with a 7-foot diagonal massive screen, those pixels are going to make your giant-sized images look nearly perfect!

Some of the modern high-definition digital films and TV shows have been produced in 4K (or higher) resolution already.  Shows like PBS’s Wallander series were shot using the awesome (USA Made) Red (brand) professional digital cinema cameras, and more content is certainly on the way.  So, with cameras like that available, you too could also shoot your own seriously professional-grade home-movies (and, perhaps even produce an independent film); plus, coupled with this new Sony XBR-84X900 TV, you will have a way to view such incredible 4KTV media in its native resolution: i.e., AWESOME!

Sony will start taking pre-orders for the TV beginning Thursday, September 6th, but it won’t actually be available until November.  If you happen to be fortunate enough to have a home-theater facility (already, or in the planning stages) that could benefit from this professional-quality 4K ultra-high-definition technology and you want to get this type of setup in place by the end of 2012, contact your Cleveland Home Theater and Sony 4K Experts – HomeSound – to discuss getting on the waiting-list for one.

The Sony XBR-84X900 4K TV will also scale your existing 1080p content to 4K resolution.  And, this device is also full 3D with passive 3D glasses and includes a totally wild feature called “SimulView” (two-player gaming without split screens)!  This is one seriously awesome piece of technology from Sony.

Sony XBR-84X900 4K TV Features:

  • 84-inch (yes, 7 foot diagonal!), 4K LCD Panel
  • Dynamic edge lit, LED backlighting
  • Three-chip, 4K X-Reality Pro picture engine
  • 4K upscaling (from “normal” high-definition like 1080p, etc)
  • 10 Unit Live Speaker System
  • Passive Full HD 3D Capable
  • Network connectivity with the full Sony Entertainment Network services suite

Is a Sony 4K TV in your (near) future?  One way or another, this TV and technology in general is something to keep an eye on.  Sure, it is early in the 4K TV lifecycle, but with backwards compatibility and some great opportunities where you can already enjoy the full resolution capabilities of this TV (like, though filming with those awesome “Red” brand cameras), this is bound to be a TV that you could get some serious entertainment out of while you have the ultimate home theater setup anywhere near you!
